Hydrating Antioxidant SPF 50 Spray
The Oars + Alps Hydrating Antioxidant SPF 50 Spray (damn that’s a long name) offers up to 80 minutes of water and sweat resistant protection. They put Vitamin C and Alpine Caribou Moss in for antioxidants, olive leaf for hydration, and they say it has less alcohol than a normal spray. Translated what that means is that it is supposed to dry out your skin a little less than a usual aerosol spray sunscreen. They recommend not spraying it at your face, which makes me think someone totally did.
I think most of my traumatizing sunscreen memories revolve around the exceptionally white pasty application that never seems to go away. For those who may not know the often chalky like color that can stay on is called white-cast, because well it’s chalky white. Oars + Alps says this is a no white-cast application and has not triggered any past trauma in regular application.
One of the things I really like about the sunscreen is it isn’t strongly scented. As a guy in his early 40s I can’t say I have a strong desire to smell like a bath and body works store or whatever other scent people think is a good choice for sunscreen. I should probably reapply more than I do throughout the day, but do feel the roughly 80 min claim is real. I have also reapplied shortly after getting out of the pool without an issue, to be clear though I did wait a few minutes to stop dripping all over the place. I can’t imagine one would expect to apply literally as you walk out of the pool as a good choice.
My only complaint is occasionally I’ve felt that the spray mechanism got stuck and had me fiddling with it to get it functioning well. It happened on 2 of the 6 bottles that I had gotten over this summer, but ultimately was able to use them all without issue. A mild annoyance but not something that would keep me from repurchasing. I often bought from Amazon so maybe it’s just them too.
