Vitamin C with Valencia Orange Oil
First impressions from Australian Botanical Soap was a bar that was larger than your average one from the supermarket with scents that were ready to escape their packaging. This review covers the Vitamin C with Valencia Orange Oil and Eucalyptus Soap with Lemon, Lime, and Petitgrain, both scents are in their standard soap line.
To jump right into it, I was very pleased with the amount of lather that I got while using the bar, and the scents were both bright and refreshing while using. I did notice that neither scent lingered with me after use, it felt a bit more like having a shower steamer (stuff that goes on the bottom of your shower and emits a scent) from the scent side of things. This makes a lot of sense as the smell is coming from the essential oils in the soap. I don’t think this is either good or bad personally, but something to consider when making your purchase if you are looking for something that will stay with you after the shower. The scents were true to their labeling, so if you find yourself browsing the site feel confident leaning into comfort scents you know you love. A little about Australian Botanical Soap. Shockingly as you may have guessed this is an Australian-made bar brand that started in the early 2000s by John Apperley, and later run with his son Scott. The pitch on their story page is a bigger plant-oil bar than the small tallow bars that used to fill the shelf (this was very much the feeling I had). Starting first at local markets and now shipped worldwide. They describe the brand as made for everyone, and the promise is everyday soap that feels like a small luxury, not a treatment line. I didn’t see that “everyday soap” line when I started writing the review, but it was the thought that ran through my mind throughout the review process. I would rank this as a solid Worth A Try, Some things I find myself wanting a bit more of from the bar is a sense of texture or grit on it, that always leaves me feeling a touch more clean. I also enjoy a scent that lingers a bit and isn’t just for the shower. All said if you are looking for a new bar, or some scents to make the shower a bit more luxurious this is definitely a good starting point. If you have sensitive skin you should also note that they do have a Goat Milk line of soaps for exactly that purpose.
