Mistborn: The Final Empire

A fantasy world built around a genuinely original magic system, and characters you want to follow across the whole series. The hero's journey is well-worn territory but Sanderson earns every beat of it. An easy read that doesn't feel thin for it. If you know you like the genre, this is a reliable entry point. Red Rising sets a higher bar in the field, but Mistborn holds its own.
