Field Leader The best in its field right now. Holds the top spot until something beats it.

When my products from Tallowbourn shipped, I got an email ahead of time telling me what’s a little bit different about using tallow based products. It was tailored to the products I had coming and offered easy specific instructions to follow for each of my items. I actually think this is a brilliant move from the brand. It lets them set expectations and show you how to use the stuff in a very informational, non judgmental way. The note for the Extra Strength deodorant was: “A few swipes are enough to fight odor, help the stick last longer, and avoid buildup or baking soda irritation. If switching from antiperspirant, allow 1–2 weeks to adjust.”

I took the note to heart about using less and found that 3 swipes was enough, and I didn’t find myself with any irritation. There also wasn’t any grit from the baking soda or negative effects in any way there, though I wasn’t really expecting any. I did take their note about waiting 30 seconds to a minute after application to put on a shirt, and I did not have any weird marks on my clothing that would keep me from using the stick.

One of the first things that stood out to me about all of the Tallowbourn products was the quality of the scents that accompany them. It isn’t something overpowering, but something you look forward to using or putting on. Extra Strength comes in two scents, Sweet Orange / Bergamot and Vanilla / Sandalwood. I’d also say the scents are true to what you might expect, so if you have a preference for something I would say you can feel confident leaning towards it when making your selections.

The deodorant is a solid stick, which I personally prefer over the gel / goo based deodorant options. It felt smooth and comfortable to apply, not something rough or irritating to my skin. It is still peak Florida summer during this deodorant testing and I was very impressed. Dave (founder) even mentions that people are often told to lower their expectations regarding deodorant and I found myself questioning if it would hold up to a Florida golf round. I was incredibly surprised post round when I hopped in my friends car after walking to the course and playing 18 holes and did not in fact smell. I am sure my friend also appreciated this. I did not find the need to reapply throughout the day and was very pleased with how it performed especially in South Florida heat.

The Extra Strength Beef Tallow Deodorant in Sweet Orange & Bergamot is the Field Leader. It has quickly become my daily use when I am not testing other products. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the tallow, but throughout the product line I was very impressed with the smell, feel, and effectiveness of the products. If you landed here as your first discovery point for Tallowbourn I would highly recommend taking some time to explore their site and products.
