The Classic Daily Facial Moisturizer
Jackfir was the first skincare brand to send product to Recco as we began to seed the Grooming board, and I found myself to be very impressed with the quality, and find myself wanting to explore a bit more of what they have to offer like the Bushwhacker Soap, Eye Cream, and Cleanser. Well played, Jackfir.
My first impression was that it felt a bit thick as I portioned some out to put on my face. It says a little goes a long way on the tube, and I should have taken that more literally. Eventually I will learn to follow directions. So yes, I clearly had extra on that first application but that's on me. If I had read the instructions, it would have told me a small pea-size amount is all I need, like most products. Having since adapted to actually following instructions, I have no complaint about a product I like lasting a while. The part that stood out here for me is really that my immediate thought was that it would feel heavy on the skin but it was not at all.
It felt dense and thick coming out of the tube, but felt light and fresh on my skin. I did not feel like I had this extra layer on my face that sometimes happens with moisturizers. Shortly after putting it on I had already forgotten the moisturizer was there, and that is what I want. I do not want to walk around feeling like I have an extra layer on my face all day. Ewww.
The thing that really caught me off guard, in a very pleasant way, was the scent. I do not think I have had many scented moisturizers in my life. That is probably me being late to the skincare game. Jackfir has a proprietary scent with notes of wild violet and pine, middle notes of balsam and amber, and base notes of cedarwood and guaiacwood. In no way did I feel like this was overpowering or a lingering scent. It made applying moisturizer feel a touch more like a ritual than a healthy habit I was trying to convince myself to be consistent in. The small fragrance before bed was also a very nice touch in the evening that I find myself already becoming accustomed to.
This is a standard morning and evening moisturizer. For me it goes on in the morning after a toner. Before bed it goes on after a light face wash.
Jackfir’s thing is you should be able to look at what is in the product and not need a decoder. Clean products that still do the job. They have done a lot of testing and certification, all of which is on their website if you want to browse a little deeper. The link here, however, will bring you right to their moisturizer.
First product to make the Grooming board, but it also very much earns its spot as a field leader with its small touches that elevate this above a regular moisturizer.
